The School Games Partnership came into being in September 2011. Following on from the borough's two School Sport Partnerships which, over the previous seven years, had been working successfully with local schools, colleges, clubs, coaches and other partners to increase the amount of participation in sport, activities and competition by the borough's children and young people. |

Meet the Team! |
The Government has provided funding for each secondary school to release a member of staff to support an Olympic/Para-Olympic style "School Games" competition structure for primary and secondary school children, from local qualification tournaments up through County level and culminating in the National School Games at Olympic venues across London in May 2012. |
|
The first of the Greater Manchester County events took place on 27th March 2012 and brought together children from schools across 10 boroughs competing in 13 Olympic and Para-Olympic sports. These Winter Games will be followed by the Greater Manchester Summer Games on 3rd July 2012. Similar County events will be taking place across the UK to identify the sporting talent and Olympic/Para-Olympic athletes of the future. |
